Another day wasted [Jun. 16th, 2006|09:22 pm]

Well... let's see.

My parents live in a old people's community. It's called Trilogy. There's a community in SLO and there's one in Redmond, WA. The house has some fancy features: the house is so well insulated, there's a system that actually pumps outside air into the house now and then.

My mom likes to push buttons w/o knowing really what they do, so i think what she did was turn on the fan for 198 mins and then have it take a break for 2 mins. I'm guessing b/c she's also post menopausal, she randomly feels the temperature is much higer than it really is. Well anyway... i got bugged at 1am to go and fix the problem with out really knowing what she did, how she did it, and how to fix it. I pressed buttons till it worked.

What was i doing up that "late"? I was lost in the world of youtube.com. I got to listen to someone perform the Lalo Cello concerto (impressive). I got to listen to Jacquline du Pre talk about the Elgar Cello Concerto. I watched some crazy guys doing Parkour. I watched a really talented girl play something friggin fast by Popper.

I went to sleep much later and woke up (officially) at 1pm to heavy rain beating against the window.

I started to wash my clothes that i brought home. Most of my clothes were just laying about my room... which looked worse than a scene from a post-apocalyptic movie. I put 2 baskets and 3 small luggage bags worth of clothes into my car, so there was a lot.

Most of the stuff is clothes i don't really wear anymore that i've been meaning to get rid of. A bunch of socks with holes and shirts that have been feasted upon by multiple generations of moth larvae (but not while on the floor of my room [the spiders take care of the moths]).

Yeah... washing that stuff took a lot of time.

I have also started trying to figure out when and where i want to try and get my cello fixed up at. My cello needs new strings.

I'm planning on getting D'Addario Helicore Cello Strings for the G and C strings (lol G-string). Jargar Cello Strings for the A and D strings. Why? I dont' know... my current cello strings are in that configuration. It's been about 3 or 4 years and it's definately time for a change. I'm sticking with these strings, though, because they lasted a long while and i like the way i sound most of the time.

I need my bow re-haired (been 2-3 years). I'm also thinking about having my sound post re-adjusted, or at least looked at just in case it needs it. I've never had it done since i got my cello so i'm supposing i need it done soonish.

Before i go off and try to do this, I'm gonna call my old cello teacher. I'm sure she has some good input on that.

I owe my friend Jeff Mitton a movie. Last time i came back to WA, we went to go see a movie and i was only carying plastic money so he paid.. i need to get him back that movie.

I really suck with the calling of people, though. I seem to not like to actually call people but dont' really have a problem with talking.

I'm already making plans to go see or find "Fearless" in Taiwan (new jet li movie FTW!).

I'm sad i'm going to be missing Superman Returns and other US movies, but there's always video rentals.
